A new anime is on its way to Netflix, and fans of Japanese animation have plenty to celebrate. SAKAMOTO DAYS, the acclaimed manga by Yuto Suzuki, tells the story of Taro Sakamoto, the ultimate assassin feared by enemies and admired by peers. Everything changes when he falls in love and decides to turn his back on his old life to focus on his family. However, when faced with dire situations, he taps into his superhuman abilities.

What Is SAKAMOTO DAYS About?

The story begins when Sakamoto meets Aoi, a convenience store clerk, and it’s love at first sight. He decides to retire from his life as an assassin. After marrying and having a daughter, he opens a small shop in a quiet town and becomes a plus-size man. To safeguard his family from lurking threats, the legendary hitman must team up with friends to face off against assassins.

The wild, over-the-top action scenes have captured audiences far and wide. As Sakamoto confronts formidable foes, such as the special faction “The Order” and a mysterious figure known as “X (Slur),” he questions the true meaning of strength.

An Ambitious Adaptation

Director Masaki Watanabe aims to convey the manga’s intensity. “When I first read SAKAMOTO DAYS, I was struck by the electrifying action scenes. My goal is to replicate that feeling through movement, color, and sound while incorporating the humor found in the original,” he explains. “We want to faithfully portray Sakamoto as both a family man and a killer who no longer kills.
